Retired Army Reserve Master Sergeant, Combat Journalist, Iraq Veteran and Bronze Star Recipient. For over 25 years Sandknop travelled across the nation, across the world and into the war zones producing 1000s of videos telling the stories of our men and women in uniform. He deployed for a total of 24 months: Iraq: 2003-2004 and Kuwait 2007-2008.

Sandknop has also worked in L.A. on numerous TV shows and feature films including: Party of Five, 90201, Melrose Place, Scream 3, Romy and Michele, The Hot Chick, The Girl Next Door and others.
He now resides back in his hometown of St. Louis MO. He continues working as a defense contractor producing "sensitive" videos both in the U.S. and overseas, industrial films, music videos, TV News, campaign videos, and documentaries.

Two things make me emotional. Retreat and Robin Williams reaction. He showed respect, even though he didn’t know what was going on. Also, kids today have no idea who Robin Williams was. His political stance was anti war, but he supported the troops. Such a loss.

Saw him live twice. Weapons of Mass Distraction. Not bad. If it had been on par with Live at Met or Broadway I would have died in my seat. Seriously my asthma was trying kill me seeing those as a kid. But, god the world is worse place without him.
Yes, it is harder without Robin's interpretation, but he left us with so many memories, and videos, that he’s still softening the blow. I have my own memories of Robin tucked safely in my heart where they belong.

You are not a veteran so you have no idea what respect is. If outside when you hear that on any base or camp you immediately stop and do what this crowd did. That 2 minutes showed more respect for Robin Williams than you realized. You comment was a waste of space.

I always loved Robin's humility. Right after he says "uh oh" you see a glimpse of vulnerability as he seems unsure what to do. Then he just follows the crowd.

What a loss still. Glad he came up when people started videoing everything so we can always look him up.
This was a typical Robin moment: deep down inside of his hilarious exterior was a gentle compassionate man. Once he heard the alarms go off, he didn’t know what was going on. But once he saw how everyone turned around from his set, he immediately read the room and took his hat off in solidarity. He looked so earnest and grounded just standing there as the alarm went off. Then, once the alarm stopped and everyone turned back around, in typical Robin fashion, all the seriousness was gone and he turned the impromptu moment into a laughing moment. I miss the man so much 💔
